Weblog Disclaimer

Nobody pays me to write this blog. Nobody tells me to say anything particular things in it. I don’t run advertisements. Nobody one pays me under the table. The opinions expressed here, are my own, and sadly ill-formed on occasion. They do not reflect the opinions of past, present, or likely future employers.

I make a living by working really hard. I’m an author. I speak at conferences when the opportunity arises. I’ve developed and taught technical classes. I’ve done a fair bit of consulting with with companies large and small over the last many years.

When I write about a company I have a relationship with, I try to note it in the entry. I will note a relationship with Realtimepublishers.com (http://www.realtimepublishers.com here. They are one company I work for, moderating the Realtime Unified Communications community online. As a result, I may refer to them or one of the companies we’re working with together from time to time and forget to note that specifically. I won’t list other companies I’m currently working with. If a relationship becomes substantial enough to warrant disclosure, believe me, you’ll hear about it.

I’m on several advisory boards, but they’re very small, pre-IPO startups or public service non-profits. I’ll disclose those as it seems appropriate.

To quote an Internet-connected friend and colleague, David Weniberger, “I will be honest with you and never write something I don’t believe in because someone is paying me as part of a relationship you don’t know about. Put differently: All I’ll hide are the irrelevancies.”

If this policy gives you heartburn or offends your sensibilities in any way, please feel free to click a link that takes you somewhere else. I do this as a hobby, as a way of maintaining contact with friends, colleagues and past clients. I do not maintain this site in an effort to win new business. I already have more new business than I can handle (but no, I’m not going to refer it to you).
